💰 76ers Lobbying Firm Pays Fines to Ethics Board

The Philly NBA team has wanted to build a new arena in Center City for nearly a year. And the lobbying firm working to promote the arena proposal recently admitted to not disclosing efforts to influence city officials, which has resulted in $4,000 in fines to the Philadelphia Board of Ethics. City officials pledged not to take action on the proposal until they evaluate the site’s potential impact on Chinatown, which borders the site at 10th and Market streets. [Inquirer 🔒]

🏠 PA House Approves Bill to Raise Property Tax for Seniors

The bill would also increase the rent subsidy for senior citizens and people with disabilities, as well as raise the income eligibility cap to expand the state’s Property Tax/Rent Rebate program. Bill sponsors say this would qualify an additional 173,00 people. The legislation passed 194-9 and now moves to the state Senate. [KYW News]

📺 Mayoral Nominee David Oh Wants TV Debates

The Republican nominee wants to challenge Democrat Cherelle Parker to a series of five televised debates ahead of the November general election. If Parker agrees, the candidates would debate policing, education, and public safety, among other issues.  [Axios Philadelphia]

The National Liberty Museum’s latest exhibit explores democracy in the age of AI and our rights as “digital citizens.” Some school districts in the region are using AI to track student activity online, but critics say there’s no evidence to prove it works.
