What's CITY Talking About?
🚧 I-95 Cap Project Beginning Construction
Amidst the rebuilding project following the collapse, I-95 will undergo another big transformation. Construction for the $328.9 million I-95 Central Access Philadelphia (CAP) project is moving ahead. It includes a roadway cap over the interstate for an 11.5-acre park, and a new pedestrian and bike bridge connecting South Street to the waterfront. The project should take four to five years to complete. [Inquirer 🔒]

🕊️ Rec Center Named in Honor of Late Parks & Rec Employee
The Mill Creek Recreation Center is now officially named the Tiffany Fletcher Recreation Center, to commemorate the deceased Parks and Rec employee killed by a stray bullet while working there last September. The rec center will receive $3 million in upgrades for ADA accessibility, a computer lab, and a mural of Fletcher. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer. [WHYY]
💰 City Council Wants to Explore Reparations
City Councilmembers Jamie Gauthier, Kendra Brooks, and Isaiah Thomas introduced a resolution to form a task force on reparations for Black Philadelphians who are descendents of enslaved people in America. The task force would explore issues such as underfunded schools, environmental racism, food deserts, and develop reparation proposals. A group of Quakers in Germantown began a decade of reparative efforts last April, offering free real estate and legal services to their Black neighbors. [Billy Penn]

👟 Philly Water Ice-Inspired Adidas Sneakers
Adidas just rolled out a limited edition Philly-inspired Snipes sneaker called “Water Ice.” The exclusive casual streetwear kicks are covered in water ice flavor colors blue, green, and pink, and the letter “P” is printed on the bottom of the shoe. Few other summer treats have made as big of an impression as Philly water ice, according to the shop’s website. [Inquirer🔒]

Where Is it?

Last week, I posted this photo of a Philly-themed mural and asked you to locate it. Hey Philly reader Angie M. was correct: it’s inside of Craft Hall on Delaware Ave.

Angie let me choose a photo this week. I’m in love with this huge, vibrant mural. Can you tell me where it is? If you’re right, you can choose next week’s photo!
