🏫 Philly Schools May Require Juneteenth Education

The city school board will soon vote on a resolution that would require mandatory lessons on the history and significance of Juneteenth beginning in the 2023-2024 school year. If passed, the Philadelphia School District will develop and provide a K-12 curriculum, instructional resources, and professional development to support Juneteenth education. [Inquirer 🔒]

🌿 City Council’s Medical Dispensary Zoning Bill

Council members Brian J. O’Neill and Curtis Jones Jr. want to block current medical marijuana dispensaries in their districts from becoming recreational stores in the future. Recreational adult use is allowed in the state, but Gov. Shapiro supports legalization. The bill faces one final vote, expected to come this Thursday. [Inquirer 🔒]

🏀 Record-Breaking Vintage Philly Sports Sale

Wilt Chamberlain’s home uniform from his first season with the Philadelphia Warriors was recently sold for $1.79 million. During the 1959-1960 season, Chamberlain was both MVP and rookie of the year, averaging 3.76 points and 27 rebounds per game. The jersey was purchased by filmmaker Rob Gough. [WHYY]
