⚕️ Florida Woman Scams Philly-Area Nursing Students

Ramatu Ali and three other licensed practical nurses from the Philly area thought they could level up their credentials with a flexible, low-cost degree from a Palm Beach college. But, school owner Johanah Napoleon has since pleaded guilty to a multimillion-dollar scheme in which she sold fake college degrees to students in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York. Many cheated by the program are now fighting to keep their nursing licenses. [Inquirer 🔒]

🍧 Water Ice, but Make It Booze

Have you ever wondered what water ice-flavored hard seltzer would taste like? Now you can find out! The Connecticut-based Two Roads Brewery has released a seasonal blue raspberry beverage called “Hard Wooder Ice.” The brewery reportedly spent months working on a flavor profile to mimic the same “blue razz” taste that Philadelphians are used to. 🏫 PA Might Start Recruiting Teachers from Abroad

The state House has passed a bill that would allow non-U.S citizens with a valid immigrant visa, work visa, or employment authorization document to teach in Pennsylvania. Supporters of the measure claim it will alleviate the decline in teachers, and create a better ratio of students of color to teachers of color.  [WHYY]

🖌️ Is Philly Losing its Murals?

Philly recently beat out nine other cities in a USA Today contest about which one has the best street art. Our city has more than 4,000 incredible murals, but in recent years, more of them are getting torn down or painted over. Mural artist Shira Walinsky, who lost three murals in the last year, shares how the city could reframe mural ownership. [City Cast Philly 🎧]
