What's CITY Talking About?
🌡️ Philly’s Hottest Neighborhoods, Literally
In some parts of the city, summer heat poses major health risks, and many residents struggle to afford air-conditioning. Hunting Park, Strawberry Mansion, and Point Breeze are considered “heat islands,” due to a lack of tree coverage and excessively hot surfaces like asphalt. Philadelphia’s Office of Sustainability is working on long-term solutions, such as funding for residents to renovate their homes to keep them cooler. [Inquirer 🔒]
🏆 Philly Breakfast Sandwich Takes Top Honors
“Good Morning America” recently took a tour across America to find the nation’s best breakfasts. Middle Child, with locations in the Gayborhood and Fishtown, recently beat out all of the competition with its pastrami, egg, and cheese sandwich on rye. Owner Matthew Cahn and executive daytime chef Edwin La Rosa took home a $10,000 prize. [Axios Philadelphia]
