🐾 Your guide to adopting a pet in Philly
August 1, 2023
I’m back! Welcome to August, neighbor. Grab your coziest lawn chair and some snacks. We're watching movies for free at your local park or playground throughout the summer and fall. 🍿

What's CITY Talking About?
☕ Free Dunkin’ Coffee for Blood Donors
Throughout August, anyone who donates blood or platelets to the American Red Cross will receive a free medium hot or iced coffee and an egg-and-cheese wrap from Dunkin’. The free food and drink vouchers are available to the first 25,000 people who donate blood. You can redeem your voucher at participating Dunkin’ stores in PA, New Jersey, and Delaware. [PhillyVoice]
⛔ No More Sidewalk Parking at Fishtown Rec Center
After years of pushing back against sidewalk parking near Fishtown’s Shissler Recreation Center, residents finally saw action. In response to neighbors raising awareness of the issue on social media and to local officials, the Philadelphia Parking Authority now sends enforcement officers to the rec center every day to ticket cars in violation. 🦅 The Return of Eagles Kelly Green
Eagles players will wear new alternate jerseys in throwback Kelly green during two home games in the fall. The 90s-era jerseys went on sale yesterday at three Eagles pro shop locations, and eager fans lined up outside the store in the early morning hours to grab theirs. [PhillyVoice]
🎨 Will Philly’s Flag Get a Redesign?
Earlier this year, Philadelphia Inquirer readers (and maybe some of you!) submitted alternative designs for the current city flag. Hear from Inquirer opinion editor Alison McCook, a potential ancestor of the original flag designer, about what makes a flag memorable. Does Philly need a new flag? [City Cast Philly 🎧]
