⚖️ Trump Indictment Philly Connection
Kensington native Mike Roman was indicted on Monday, Aug. 14, along with former President Donald Trump and 17 other Trump allies, for attempting to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia. Roman served as an election day operations director during Trump’s reelection campaign. A Georgia grand jury charged him with several offenses, including conspiracies to commit forgery, impersonating a public officer, committing false statements, and filing false documents. [Inquirer 🔒]
☀️ Solar Energy Push
The Philadelphia Energy Authority wants to make solar energy more affordable and accessible by ramping up solar panel installation. The agency’s newest proposal calls for doubling its contracts with local families earning no more than 80% of the area median income. Since launching in 2017, the authority’s Solarize Philly program has installed panels on 2,000 city rooftops, with 30% of them for low- to moderate-income households. [WHYY]
🔍 PPA Officer Assaulted
A female parking enforcement officer was struck in the face and back by BB gun pellets in Center City on Monday. Police said the perpetrator was driving a green Honda with heavily tinted windows, and that the incident is still under investigation. Parking enforcement officers have faced an uptick in verbal and physical violence on the job, according to a 2022 Inquirer report. [Inquirer🔒]
