What's CITY Talking About?
🚓 Officer Dial To Be Fired
Following recommendations from the Citizens Police Oversight Commission, Officer Mark Dial, who fatally shot 27-year-old Eddie Irizzary last week in North Philly, has been suspended with the intent to dismiss after 30 days. Commissioner Danielle Outlaw announced the decision on Wednesday, Aug. 23, noting that the shooting is still under investigation. [NBC News]

💰 Refunds for Springsteen Shows
Due to an undisclosed illness, Bruce Springsteen postponed two shows scheduled last week at Citizens Bank Park. But once new dates are announced, ticket holders will be able to request a refund if they can’t make it. Unlike cancellations, state law doesn’t explicitly address the rights of ticket holders in cases where a concert is postponed. So individual event organizers decide what options fans have. 📐 Parkway Makeover Planning
The City of Philadelphia and the Parkway Council are collecting public input on a plan to transform Benjamin Franklin Park into a massive park. New design concepts include replacing the outer traffic lanes with green space, a walkway between Eakins Oval and the Art Museum, protected bike lanes, and a pedestrian walkway to the Schuylkill River. Residents can submit their opinions on the designs through Sept. 18. The project is expected to take 20 years. [PhillyVoice]
⛔ Design Group Opposes Arena
Philly’s Design Advocacy Group took a stand against the 76ers’ plan to build a stadium in Center City. In a statement, the group said the plan will not achieve the desired results, and will actually ‘make matters worse’ for the Market East area. Billy Penn reporter Jordan Levy recently broke down where this ongoing debate stands, one year after the plan was announced. [Inquirer/City Cast Philly 🎧]

Your Guide to Outdoor Dining in Philly

Summer is fading fast, but there’s still time to grab a bite to eat or a drink at one of Philly's many patios or sidewalk cafes. Back in May, host Trenae Nuri talked with Ben Fileccia, lobbyist with the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association, about how city regulations closed down many outdoor dining options that opened during the pandemic, and where you can still eat outside.
