What's CITY Talking About?

🚨 Cavalcante Still on the Run

The search for an escaped Chester County inmate was still on as of Tuesday evening, as convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante continued to evade law enforcement. Cavalcante was recently seen shirtless in South Coventry Township, carrying a .22-caliber rifle and a flashlight. PA State police haven’t issued an evacuation or shelter-in-place order, but area residents are advised to secure their homes and vehicles. [PhillyVoice]

💼 Comcast Workers Mostly Back

As of yesterday, about 8,000 Philly-based Comcast employees are back in the office at least four days a week, up from the previously mandated three, per a new company-wide policy. More workers in the office could enhance Philly’s post-pandemic economic recovery, by increasing foot traffic, putting more people on SEPTA, and boosting shopping at Center City businesses. But some remote work experts told Axios that strict return-to-office mandates could lead to employee departures. [Axios Philadelphia]

🎨 New Philabundance Mural

Mural Arts Philadelphia recently unveiled a new mural at Philabundance’s Hunger Relief Center in South Philly. Local artist Calo Rosa painted a vibrant mural, entitled “More Than Food,” which pays tribute to the healing power of food and honors the services that Philabundance provides for families across the Delaware Valley. 🏀 Wells Fargo Center Makeover

The Wells Fargo Center is in the final stages of a $400 million renovation projection, which includes replacing and upgrading the exterior LED lighting system, and adding outdoor canopies for guests. Once completed, the new system will light the entire venue blue for the Philadelphia 76ers, and orange for the Flyers. Broad Street, 11th Street, and Premium Access Entrances will have climate-controlled canopies which include an upgraded check-in process using AI technology. Developers hope to wrap up by early 2024.
