What's CITY Talking About?

⚾ Red October Continues!
After a series-clinching victory on Wednesday evening (punctuated by an epic grand slam from second baseman Bryson Stott), your Philadelphia Phillies are headed to Atlanta for an NLDS rematch with the Braves. The first game of the best-of-five series is on Saturday, broadcasted nationally on TBS, with first pitch scheduled for 6:07pm. No matter what happens in the first two games, the series will return to Citizens Bank Park for Game 3 on Monday night. Here’s hoping our fellas come back home with a lead. [MLB]

Argument Over Video Games Leads to Police Shooting
One Northeast Philly man was killed, one critically injured, and three Philadelphia police officers were wounded Wednesday night in the Burholme neighborhood after police responded to a domestic-related incident, allegedly over a video game. According to police, the shooter engaged in an argument with his son over a video game, and when the child’s uncle got involved, shots were fired. When police arrived on the scene, the shooter wounded two officers and one sergeant, and was fatally injured when the police returned fire. As of yesterday evening, the wounded police officers were listed as stable at an area hospital, while the uncle involved is in critical condition. [6ABC]
🍺 Local Breweries Facing a Downslide?
Over the past few weeks, three local beer producers have announced they’re closing their doors, leading some to question if the Philly’s craft beer bubble will pop. This past weekend Separatist Beer Project in South Philadelphia announced they would be closing for good, as did Montgomery County’s Stickman Brews. On Monday evening, Liquid Art announced its final day of operation at their Spring Garden location will be Sunday, Oct. 8. While new producers do continue to pop up around town, Liquid Art’s owner Mike Treon warns of an imminent brewery “bloodbath” as the national craft beer market sputters out. [Philadelphia Inquirer]
