What's CITY Talking About?
After Bankruptcy, What’s Next for Rite-Aid?
The Philadelphia-based pharmacy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this week. Rite Aid has closed more than 20 Philly-area stores in the past year and racked up more than $3 billion in losses. The pharmacy is also facing more than 1,000 lawsuits for allegedly oversupplying opioids. [Inquirer]
Peaceful March in Support of Palestine
At a rally in Center City, hundreds of demonstrators called for Israel to allow for the entry of humanitarian aid after it cut off access to the Gaza Strip and millions of Palestinian civilians. Rami Ibrahim, one of the march speakers, also called out “over 75 years of illegal occupation” in the region and said the marchers' demands are universal. “This is simply about human rights. Not an Israeli thing, not a Palestinian thing,” Ibrahim said. [KYW]

Sixers Arena Opponents Want “Unbiased” Impact Study
In the latest development in the controversy over a proposed ‘76ers arena near Chinatown, opponents are crowdfunding their own impact study for the project. They accuse the city’s studies on the community and economic impacts of being biased because they received funding from the project’s developers. Developers counter that the city has “sole discretion” to steer the analyses. [WHYY]

Suspect in Airport Officer Slaying Arrested
Philadelphia police arrested an 18-year-old Camden man for a shooting at Philadelphia International Airport Thursday night that killed one police officer and injured a second. The slain officer, Richard Mendez, was a 22-year veteran who was “winding down” his last few years as a patrolman at the airport. A manhunt is underway for at least two other suspects, with a $237,400 reward being offered for information leading to an arrest. [Inquirer]
