💉 Krasner Sues Over Insulin Prices
Philly District Attorney Larry Krasner is alleging that companies like CVS, Eli Lilly, and UnitedHealthcare are violating Pennsylvania law by colluding to set the price of insulin out of reach for many residents. Some of these companies have called Krasner’s lawsuit “baseless.” [WHYY]
🪧 Sports Complex Food Workers Authorize Strike
Over the weekend, Aramark food service workers voted to authorize a strike if one becomes necessary. Their union — Unite Here Local 274 — is in the midst of contract negotiations and is asking for wage increases and better health care. [KYW]
⚖️ Prisons Commissioner Resigns
Blanche Carney will retire on April 5, following eight years as head of Philadelphia’s Department of Prisons. Her tenure has been marked by numerous controversies, including deaths inside prison facilities and inmate escapes. [Inquirer 🔒]
📈 Woman-Owned Businesses on the Rise
Data from Yelp shows that 966 woman-owned businesses opened in the Philly region last year. That’s 21% more than in 2022. [Axios Philadelphia]
