📲 Social Media Parental Consent Bill Passes

In a 105–95 vote this week, the Pennsylvania House passed a bill that would require social media platforms to verify users’ ages, request parental consent for users under 16, and refrain from selling minors’ data. The legislation — which still needs approval from the Pa. Senate and governor — has prompted opposition from free speech advocates and lobbyists. [Pennsylvania Capital-Star]

🥪 ‘Middle Child’ Name Battle

The owner of Philly sandwich shop Middle Child has filed a trademark infringement suit against an eatery that’s slated to open soon in Las Vegas. Although the Philly restaurant formally applied for a trademark after the Vegas restaurant did, the Philly spot is claiming that it has common law rights to the trademark. [Eater Vegas]

🎓 Penn Adds Commencement Security

Amid ongoing encampment protests, the University of Pennsylvania is implementing a “high level of security” at its graduation ceremony, including measures like a no-bag policy and ID checks for graduates. [The Daily Pennsylvanian]
