✍️ Public Safety Bills Become Law
Mayor Cherelle Parker approved three bills on Tuesday: a ban on firearm bump stocks, an expansion of the city’s speed camera program, and new licensing and training requirements for private officers who carry out evictions. [NBC10]
🔍 The Latest on the UArts Saga
Pennsylvania legislators held a hearing this week on the impact of the art school’s swift closure. Former dean Erin Elman was the only university leader to show up, and she testified that she and six other deans didn’t find out about the closure until 10 minutes before the public did. [KYW]

💰 It Could Soon Cost $1 More To Leave New Jersey
The Delaware River Port Authority is expected to vote this summer on whether to raise tolls on the four bridges between Philly and New Jersey. The proposed hike — from $5 to $6 — would help fund budget items such as safety improvements and police officer hiring and retention. [PhillyVoice]

Parking in Philly is not for the faint of heart. There are official regulations, and then there are unwritten rules, legal or otherwise. Last August, City Cast Philly podcast host Trenae Nuri sat down with producer Abby Fritz and former executive producer Laura Benshoff to talk through their hacks for finding the best parking spots in the city.

A mea culpa: I wrote in a photo caption yesterday that four out of the five states bordering Pennsylvania had legalized recreational marijuana. Turns out I miscounted — there are actually six states that border Pennsylvania. Delaware, the state I excluded, legalized recreational weed last year.
