What's CITY Talking About?

🏫 Drexel President To Swap Institutions?

Sources told multiple news outlets on Friday that Drexel University’s current president, John Fry, is expected to become Temple University’s next president. The university has yet to confirm that. [The Temple News]

💰 SEPTA Budget Approved, But Still in Limbo

The transit agency approved a $1.74 billion operating budget for the fiscal year that starts today — but it’s contingent on the Pennsylvania budget ultimately including Gov. Josh Shapiro’s proposed allocation of $161 million toward SEPTA. State lawmakers missed their budget deadline, so that’s still pending. [KYW]

🛒 ShopRite’s New Smart Carts

Two ShopRites in Northeast Philly and two in Delco will soon be rolling out high-tech shopping carts called “Caper Carts,” which let customers scan their items as they shop. [PhillyVoice]

Your Guide to July in Philly

The beginning of July can be an exciting time in Philly, but the rest of the month isn’t so shabby either! From Appalachian artwork to riverfront dancing to an ice cream festival, tune in to hear the City Cast Philly team’s picks for activities to enjoy, foods to try, and free events to attend in Philly this month.

As both a Swiftie and someone with a soft spot for feel-good stories, I got kind of teary-eyed reading this story about a 13-year-old Eagles fan who met Jason Kelce outside Wembley Stadium in London while his sister and mom were attending the Eras Tour.

Enjoy your Monday!
