🩺 Finding primary care in Philly
July 23, 2024 · — Asha Prihar
Good morning! You might’ve noticed in Hey Philly’s events section last week that Lisa Ann Walter — AKA Melissa Schemmenti on “Abbott Elementary” — was in Philly over the weekend for some stand-up shows. Well, Alicia Vitarelli from Action News took her on a food tour while she was in town, and just reading about it has me salivating 😋

What's CITY Talking About?
🔵 PA Delegates Endorse Harris
Pennsylvania’s delegates to the Democratic National Convention voted unanimously yesterday to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for the party’s presidential nomination. That made them the third state delegation to take this step less than 24 hours after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. [Inquirer 🔒]
🥣 The Kelce Brothers’ New Cereal
Recently retired Eagles center Jason Kelce’s next act is … cereal connoisseur? He’s teaming up with General Mills and his brother Travis to release “Kelce Mix”: a combo of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, and Reese’s Puffs. It drops in September. [USA Today]
🍸 24 Very Happy PA Hours
Last week, Gov. Josh Shapiro signed HB 829, expanding state alcohol laws and allowing bars to offer happy hour promotions for 24 hours per week instead of 14. Also in the bill: the establishment of a spirits industry promotional board, lots of grants, and permanent outdoor seating permits. [Pittsburgh Business Times 🔒]
- A different bill signed by Shapiro last week greenlit yet another change in state liquor laws. Hear about it on today’s Tuesday News Roundup. [City Cast Philly 🎧]

Today on City Cast

It’s the Tuesday News Roundup:
We’re talking about Pennsylvania’s liquor laws relaxing a little more, mounting calls for safer bike lanes, and the star-studded reason for road closures in the Wissahickon this week.

One last thing: I learned last week that the half-vacant Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem has new owners, and they’re planning to demolish and redevelop approximately half of the property. I’m not exactly a frequent shopper there, but I was quite relieved to read in the Business Journal that Boscov’s is there to stay.
Enjoy your Monday!
