📉 Poverty Rate Drops
According to U.S. Census data, Philly’s poverty rate dropped by 1.4 percentage points between 2022 and 2023. That’s the largest annual decrease in the past decade. [Inquirer 🔒]

🚢 Is the SS United States Moving, or…?
On its Sept. 12 moving deadline (yesterday), the SS United States Conservancy filed a motion to keep the ship at its current spot in South Philly until Dec. 5, claiming that the pier owner is sabotaging their plans to sell the ship to a Florida county. A hearing on the motion is expected today. [PhillyVoice]

Before I sign off, some Friday food for thought: The Inquirer recently took a dive into the question of whether Pennsylvania is part of the Midwest, as some observers/commentators would have you believe during election season.
