What's CITY Talking About?
⚓ Dockworkers on Strike
More than 400 dockworkers at the Port of Philadelphia are participating in a nationwide, 45,000-worker strike, seeking higher wages and total prohibition of automation of certain loading and unloading equipment. If the strike isn’t resolved in a few weeks, supply chains could be disrupted and prices could rise across the country. [KYW/NBC10]
💰 Financial Trouble for Drexel
The university, which is dealing with a $63 million operating loss this fiscal year, plans to encourage voluntary retirements, reduce employee benefits, and eliminate vacant positions. The school may also consider laying off some staff and administrators. [Inquirer 🔒]
⚾ Remembering Pete Rose
The former Phillies player, who helped lead the team to its first-ever World Series victory, died earlier this week at age 83. [6ABC]

Where Is It?

It’s time for our weekly location challenge! The instructions are simple: I show you a photo of a mural, sculpture, or some other piece of public art in Philly, and you tell me where in the city you can find it. Let’s start by revealing the location of last week’s mural, pictured above.
📍 You can find this cheesesteak checklist mural on the side of Fulton Bank at 1722 S. Broad St. in Point Breeze.
📝 The story: “A Community of Champions” — a 1,700-square-foot mural (our photo is just one piece of it!) — was created by Custom Arts Studio, a design company based in Mt. Airy, and sponsored by Fulton Bank. In addition to what you can see above, the full mural includes colorful images of a saxophonist, someone climbing a pole, a person riding an Indego bicycle, and a number of South Philly landmarks. And it’s interactive — if you visit the mural, you can scan the QR code at the bottom of the cheesesteak list to vote for your favorite spot.
“A Community of Champions” was unveiled earlier this year. You can read more about it on Indego’s website — and even more in this Inquirer piece about some controversy it stirred.
🏆 Big shoutout to the champs who recognized this mural: Diego F., Kristin S., and Treshia H.!
Now, on to this week’s challenge. This vibrant mural caught my eye the other day …

Do you have any idea where in Philly you can find this art? If you’ve got a guess, submit it here or send me an email.
Reminder: “Where Is It?” operates on the honor system — so please don’t look up the answer!
