⚽ Philly could be home to another pro sports team
October 21, 2024 · — Ava Wojnowski
Gooood morning Philly! My name is Ava Wojnowski, and I'll be the interim newsletter editor as Hey Philly searches for a permanent full-time editor. Since I’ll be here for a little while, I wanted to tell y’all a little bit about me. In May, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (shoutout to any Badgers reading this 🦡) with degrees in journalism and Spanish. When I’m not working, I love to spend time outside, whether it’s hiking, biking, or running. I also love music — any kind of music.
Speaking of music, get excited for the Philly Music Fest! City Cast Philly podcast host Trenae Nuri sat down with Greg Seltzer, founder and producer of the festival, to talk about the sounds of the city and how to keep a music festival running for eight years in Philly.

🎭 How To Get Inexpensive ‘Hamilton’ Tickets (If You’re Lucky)
Hamilton is returning to Philly from Oct. 29 through Nov. 3 with an exciting deal: Weekly lotteries for $10 tickets. The first lottery opened on Friday. [Hamilton Musical]
🪫 Fixin’ Up the EV Chargers
The quality and overall lack of chargers has been an issue for electric vehicles owners in Philly, so City Council passed a bill last week to allow the city’s Department of Licenses and Inspections to fine property owners who have public chargers that don’t work. [WHYY]
💵 Big Bucks for the Senate Race
Between the Casey and McCormick campaigns and the political action committees supporting them, $240 million has been spent in Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race. McCormick’s campaign spending is about half as much as Casey’s, but McCormick has received more PAC support. [WHYY]

⚽ Women’s Soccer League to Philly … Maybe
Philly is reportedly one of five finalist cities that could get the 16th franchise of the National Women’s Soccer League. Former Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin is part of the local group trying to make it happen. The group’s plan involves creating a new stadium in a yet-to-be-determined location. [🔒Business Journal]
