What's CITY Talking About?
🚰 Update on Lead Pipes
The Philadelphia Water Department released an interactive map of lead pipes throughout the city, allowing residents to see if their water source might be contaminated. The materials in 436,342 service lines are unknown, while another 14,272 have been found to contain lead.

🌧️ What’s Up With the Lack of Rain?
It’s been 23 days since a rainfall in Philly, making it possible for the city to break some records. The current record is 29 days, set in 1874. The reason behind the lack of rain can be attributed to “rain-repelling high pressure” – heavier air that prevents clouds, bringing nothing but blue skies to Philly. [🔒Inquirer]
🗳️ Philly Campaign Countdown
- The Rev. Alyn E. Waller’s group Black Bikers Vote led an event this past weekend to encourage Black men to register to vote. The organization Black Men Vote, which also participated in the weekend vote, set a goal of getting 100,000 black men across the country registered. They say they’ve reached about 95% of that goal — 60,000 of whom are from Philly. [NBC]
- Tom Corbett, former governor of Pennsylvania, believes that people won’t know who wins Pennsylvania until the Friday after Election Day. He works with the group Keep Our Republic in an effort to make the election process to go smoothly … or at least as smoothly as possible. [Philadelphia Magazine]
- Kamala Harris stopped at Famous 4th Street Deli yesterday and, because we know you want to know, she ordered pastrami on rye and German chocolate cake. [🔒Inquirer]
