🗯️ 'F around and find out' DA says of election disruptors
November 4, 2024 · — Ava Wojnowski
The Eagles got a W yesterday thanks in part to one of the craziest football moves we've ever seen. Meanwhile: The election is tomorrow and District Attorney Larry Krasner is not messing around: “If people think they’re going to erase votes in Philly or terrorize people who are here to protect those votes, we’ve got some handcuffs, we’ve got some jail cells.”
On today’s podcast, "How Does Voting Really Work in Philly?", we talk with exactly who you need to hear from right now – City Commissioner Seth Bluestein, one of three people in charge of elections in the city, about whether voter fraud really happens and why Philly can’t start counting mail ballots until tomorrow.

What's CITY Talking About?
🗳️ Philly Campaign Countdown
- The Harris campaign will host a get-out-the-vote concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway tonight at 5 p.m. Big names including Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Oprah Winfrey are confirmed to be performing or speaking at the event. [WHYY]
- Teachers in Philadelphia are working to educate students about the election while not bringing their opinions to the table. Some districts are offering drop-in sessions to go over lesson plans and ensure proper explanations. [🔒Inquirer]
- While celebrities from the worlds of music, movies, and politics have made their way to Philly to campaign for their preferred candidate, everyday civilians from Germany to England have come here, too, to campaign for their candidates. [Philadelphia Citizen]
- Courting the Jewish vote, former Governor/Mayor Ed Rendell released an ad in response to a controversial pro-Trump commercial that allegedly stereotyped Jews. Both ads were filmed at Hymie’s Delicatessen, just outside of Philly. [🔒Philly Mag]
📝 Potentially Closer to Approving Sixers’ Arena
A pair of procedural resolutions were approved by city lawmakers for the potential new Sixers’ arena. While the $1.55 billion project has yet to be officially approved, these votes help lay the groundwork. [WHYY]

🎄 A Very Philly Christmas
The Kelce brothers have once again added “singer” to their resumes. The first song in this year’s holiday album from The Philly Specials, called “A Philly Special Christmas Party,” has been released, and it features the Kelces harmonizing with Philly’s own Boyz II Men. The Philly Specials will release a song every Friday until the album is out on Nov. 22. Other artists you can expect to hear: Stevie Nicks, Mt.Joy, and Devon Gilfillian. [Spotify, 🔒Inquirer]
