🏛️ The race that’s still too close to call
November 7, 2024 · — Ava Wojnowski
Hey, Philly. As of press time, we don’t have a declared winner in the U.S. Senate race for Pennsylvania, with Republican Dave McCormick just slightly ahead of Democratic Sen. Bob Casey. But we do know that Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris in the presidential race, and that he won Pennsylvania – and that he did far better in Philly than expected. That’s why for our City Cast Philly episode today, "Making Sense of Trump's Success in Philly & Beyond," we called up a political historian to make sense of this moment:

What's CITY Talking About?
👋 Sayonara Seafood Spot
Devon Seafood Grill on Rittenhouse Square is closing after 25 years of business, resulting in 76 people losing their jobs. Being in the prime location that it is, the spot likely won't stay empty for long. [🔒The Inquirer]
🚌 👻 No More “Ghost-Busing”
You may notice a new feature on your SEPTA app — a “Trip Canceled” notification. Before this feature was added, Philadelphians had no way of knowing if the bus they were waiting for would come or not. This change comes as SEPTA CEO Leslie Richards tries to make the transit system easier to understand. [BillyPenn]
🏀 Embiid Suspended for Brotherly Shove
Sixer Joel Embiid has been suspended for three games for shoving Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes. The confrontation occurred in the locker room after the team lost last weekend to the Grizzlies. Embiid was upset about a Hayes column that referenced Embiid’s late brother. [NBC Sports]
