🏛️ McCormick Takes a Seat

The AP has called the race and Republican Dave McCormick flipped the Pennsylvania Senate seat. McCormick led with 49% to incumbent Democratic Senator Bob Casey’s 48.5%. A recount, though, is possible. Republicans have now secured 53 seats in the Senate, taking over the chamber. [The Guardian]

🚌 How Would a SEPTA Strike Affect Schools?

Many are wondering what will happen if SEPTA workers strike on Friday. Schools Superintendent Tony B. Watlington Sr. says that some Philadelphia schools might move to virtual learning. About 55,000 students take SEPTA to class every day. [🔒The Inquirer]

🏠 Who Runs PA’s House?

Neither party has yet won a majority in the Pennsylvania State House. With 203 seats, 101 are Democrats and 101 Republicans. The 72nd district race has yet to be called. As for the State Senate, Republicans have won the majority. That chamber now has a 28-22 Republican majority. [🔒The Inquirer]

After being purchased by a county on Florida’s Gulf Coast, the SS United States will leave Philly. The 1,000-foot ocean liner’s migration south begins next Thursday. The following day, on Nov, 15, the Walt Whitman, Commodore Barry, and Delaware Memorial bridges will be closed while the ship is pulled down the Delaware River to the ocean. This vessel is set to become the largest artificial reef in the world. [6ABC]
