🚲📝 Hey! I’m Bikin’ Here!

Mayor Cherelle Parker signed legislation making it illegal for cars to stop even for a moment in city bike lanes. Fines for violating this law in the city's 35 miles of lanes are $125 in Center City and $75 in other parts of Philly. [NBC10]

🏟️ To Arena or Not to Arena

Those who oppose the Sixers arena proposal are turning up the heat on City Council as the final session of the year creeps closer. Critics of the project are hoping to sway 10 council members with their arguments about displacement, housing cost, and traffic congestion. [Axios]

Will Our Eagles Make It to the Super Bowl?

The Eagles are 10-2. They could clinch a playoff berth this Sunday against the lowly Panthers. But do we think that they will actually make it to the Super Bowl this season? The Eagles have played in four Super Bowls, with the last championship a long seven years ago. The Eagles’ betting odds to make the big game are +500, same as the Kansas City Chiefs' and Buffalo Bills', but the Detroit Lions are the favorites at +250.

I asked readers if they’re feeling optimistic. Here’s what they had to say:

Michelle from West Philly: “It’s still too early to tell, but our standings are good, and if I project positive energy, maybe the universe will respond in kind.”

Cory from the Gayborhood: “Absolutely… Go birds, obviously.”

And according to our very own Trenae Nuri: “ Of course! We have Saquon Barkley, the clear MVP! And Jalen Carter is unstoppable on defense!”

Super Bowl LIX is Feb. 9 in New Orleans. We’ll see you on Broad Street the following Thursday. 🏈
