🏈 Thank you, Eagles!

February 10, 2025 · — Siani Colón

We are so back, Philly! In what one Birds fan described as an “old-fashioned ass whooping,” our chief foes were vanquished last night and the Philadelphia Eagles are your Super Bowl champions!

While the Chiefs tried to turn things around in the fourth quarter after a sleepy and sloppy performance through most of the game, it wasn’t enough to counter the Eagles’ defensive line and range of offensive weapons. The final was 40-22, but the victory was far more dominant than the score would indicate. Philly will celebrate its second Super Bowl win in seven years on Friday, with a parade down Broad Street.

The Chiefs had some success slowing down running back Saquon Barkley, but Jalen Hurts – the Super Bowl MVP – delivered, proving why he’s not to be doubted as quarterback. Happy birthday to Cooper DeJean, who had a pick-six on his 22nd birthday.

If you’re still waking up after partying on Broad Street, we can help you relive the fun. Today on the podcast, Trenae and Matt discuss highlights from the night, the vibes after the game, and what this all means for our city.

After it was revealed that Penn Medicine took down the webpage for its Anti Racism Committee, several more pages have been removed. This follows President Trump’s executive order requiring federally funded universities to eliminate DEI programs. And Penn Athletics scrubbed its page in the wake of an investigation from the Department of Education for allowing transgender athlete Lia Thomas to compete. [Daily Pennsylvanian]

Best of the 2024 Eagles

The Eagles did it! The team is officially two-time NFL Super Bowl champions. These players made us laugh, cry, and seek to embody their inner excellence. While the season may be officially over, we’re not ready just yet to put it behind us. As we make our victory lap, we look back at our favorite moments from the 2024-2025 season.

Saquon Barkley

This man just needs to be his own highlight, okay? In his first year with the Philadelphia Eagles, he went from being an undervalued running back to the AP Offensive Player of the Year (and MVP in our hearts).

He killed it on the field this year. Whether it was making history as the ninth running back to rush for 2,000 yards or breaking the Eagles’ single-game playoff rushing record with 205 yards in a snowed-out Linc, it’s been quite the year.

Ultimately the play that’s seared into our brains forever will be him not just dodging two tackles in a game against Jacksonville, but jumping over a third Jaguars player who was standing at full height. The backwards hurdle was so unbelievable that Barkley said he was even drug-tested afterward. Although he thinks he’ll probably never make that jump again, it will remain his most iconic moment unless he somehow outdoes himself.

One-Handed Catch

Another iconic moment from the same game that brought you the backwards hurdle was DeVonta Smith’s one-handed catch. The wide receiver’s toes came back down to Earth right in the nick of time to have the catch count for a touchdown and increase the Eagles’ lead. The team ultimately won that game 28-23.
