🦅 Philly’s Super Bowl Party continues on Friday
February 11, 2025 · — Siani Colón
I don’t know about you, Philly, but I’m still recovering from Sunday’s celebrations. If you’re in the same boat, here are some tips to get you back to 100%. You’ll need them for Friday, as the city confirmed that Feb. 14 is the date of the Eagles’ Super Bowl parade.
The timing is rough for those of you who have plans for Valentine’s Day, but the Birds are keeping romance alive. With the forecast indicating sunshine after a snowy and rainy week, the parade will be perfect jersey-over-hoodie weather. (I might throw on my dad’s McNabb jersey.)

What's CITY Talking About?
💘 This Philly Bar Is the Ultimate Matchmaker
Speaking of Valentine’s Day, the Eagles aren’t the only thing bringing couples together. McGillin’s Ole Ale House is not only the oldest operating bar in the city, but Cupid apparently hangs out there and has helped hundreds of couples meet and fall in love. On today’s episode of City Cast Philly, we talk to McGillin’s owner about why love is in the air there, and we hear from some of the couples who met at the bar whose relationships are still lasting to this day. 📓 Charter Network Fights To Control Three Philly Schools
ASPIRA Inc. and the North Philly schools within its charter network are battling to determine who runs the schools and manages the staff. ASPIRA claims leaders changed grades and attendance records, but school representatives deny the claims and say support staff have chosen to leave ASPIRA to work for them directly, which “speaks volumes.” [🔒 The Inquirer]
💻 Where’s All the Data?
Hundreds of pages were removed from federal government websites after President Trump signed executive orders to get rid of DEI and climate-related language. With some sites redirecting to a “404 error” page, local company PolicyMap is keeping some of that federal data alive. The datasets it’s collecting include information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about health conditions across the country. [Philadelphia Citizen]
🏈 Eagles Leave Their Mark On Philly Sports History
With Jalen Hurts' extraordinary season culminating in being named Super Bowl MVP, and with the Eagles wiping the floor with the Chiefs following a stellar season, some are making the case that this might be the best season and team in Philly sports history. [🔒The Inquirer]

How To Mark Valentine’s Day with a Discounted Tattoo

If you missed the Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Festival in January, you have more opportunities this month to get tatted by artists in the city. There’s plenty of places to get inked up – the city has more than 400 people with body artist licenses, according to one tally from 2020. Given our vibrant arts and culture scene, it’s no surprise that the local tattoo community fits right in with shops across neighborhoods.
But sometimes picking a design is hard. We might want to decorate our skin with an image that reminds us of a special memory, gives us a laugh, or just looks incredibly cool. But if you’re not exactly sure what you want, consider a flash tattoo.
What is a flash tattoo?
Usually flash designs are available at a slightly lower price due to the fact that they’re not custom drawn and are sold to multiple people. The price itself is ultimately determined by size and placement.
On holidays or special occasions, some tattoo artists and studios host flash events where special themed designs are up for grabs. With Valentine’s Day this week, there are plenty of V-Day themed flash events around the city. If you’ve been itching to get inked, here’s what’s happening in Philly.
Feb. 12
Artist Jen Rahman is honoring the gals and pals on Wednesday with a tattoo flash at Hunter Gatherer Tattoo & Piercing in West Philly beginning at 1 p.m. Rahman’s style typically consists of black-and-white botanical illustrations, but available designs on her flash sheet also include cherubs, hearts, and love-themed dice.
