✈️ Recorder from NE Philly jet crash is useless

March 7, 2025 · — Siani Colón

Good morning, Philly! I know March only just started, but I’m already thinking about summer, sunshine, and beaches. I’ve never spotted mermaids in the ocean, though. It must be because they like hanging out at the Adventure Aquarium right across the Delaware River. They’ll be there until March 16 if you’re trying to make new aquatic friends. 🧜‍♀️

🛩️ Voice Recorder From NE Philly Jet Crash Doesn't Work, Questions Remain

The key piece of equipment that could answer why the medical jet crashed in January had likely not worked in years, according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board. The recorder was recovered inside the eight-foot crash crater and repaired, but nothing was audible. The nonfunctional recorder makes determining the cause of the crash, which killed seven, more difficult. [🔒 The Inquirer]

📓 Mobile Pre-School Expanding Education Access

El Busesito is preparing kids for kindergarten by bringing the classroom to them. Students can access bilingual education in nonprofit Xiente’s van, which is equipped with puzzles, blocks, and stuffed animals, while the organization links families to social service providers. [Grid]

🚌 SEPTA on Life Support

Speaking of buses, SEPTA still isn’t doing well. After Governor Shapiro flexed federal highway funding last year to prevent hefty fare increases and service cuts, the feared “death spiral” is still a threat. SEPTA officials plan to release details later this month about a possible 20% service cut and fare increases if the agency doesn’t get what it needs from the state budget. Such a spiral could lead to certain stations and lines being terminated. [Metro Philly]
