What's CITY Talking About?

🚆 All Aboard the PATCO Train

After 46 years and some delays, PATCO reopened its station at Franklin Square. The station has had a tumultuous history, having originally opened in 1936 and closing several times through the years -- the last in 1979 due to low ridership and illegal activity. The renovated station is ADA-accessible and mixes the classic 1930s tiles with a modern look. [WHYY, City Cast Philly]

An investigation in 2021 found that Philadelphia had been taking Social Security money owed to foster youth and instead pooling the money into the city’s general fund. While Philadelphia says it now notifies the child’s advocates that the county will be taking the benefits, new data shows that since 2020, 44 out of 47 reported counties in Pennsylvania have collected $15.7 million intended for children in foster care.
