❗ Deadline to apply for LIHEAP

April 18, 2025 · — Siani Colón

How’s your spring cleaning going, Philly? I made progress last week attending a clothing swap at Sunday Girl (collecting donations for Savage Sisters until May 24) but still have books to rehome. If you’re in the same boat, the Falls of Schuylkill Free Library is collecting donations between April 19-22 for its spring fundraiser book sale from April 24-26.

Here’s what else is happening around Philly. ⤵️

🏫 Who Is Leading CCP?

That’s the question on the minds of the Community College of Philadelphia school community after its board of trustees placed now-former president Donald “Guy” Generals on immediate administrative leave. While Guy knew the board would not renew his contract in December, he feels the move was “unjustified” and there is no interim president in place. [🔒 The Inquirer]

  • While the board has not shared the reasoning behind its decision, the former college president released his first public statement since being dropped by the institution. [🎧 City Cast Philly]

🗳️ DA Candidate Flakiness Leads to Missed Opportunity for Voters

After District Attorney Larry Krasner backed out of a now-cancelled candidate forum, his opponent Patrick Dugan is now ditching another forum at WHYY. While the April 22 forum will still go on, it's unclear whether both candidates will face off before the May primary, leaving voters with fewer opportunities to hear from them. [PABJ, WHYY]

🫂 Temporary Clubhouse Brings Entrepreneurs, Art, and Thrift Finds Together

Local street artist NOMAD’s Good Samaritan Clubhouse is not only creating a platform for his art, but transforming the space into a community hub. There’s a gallery show tonight from 6-10 p.m. and a closing celebration on April 25 from 7-9 p.m. [Germantown Info Hub]
