🔔 Staycation in the City

If you’re looking for a change of scenery, why not stay at one of these boutique hotels for a mini-staycation? Although some of these hotels have exquisite dining options, definitely explore the rest of Philly’s culinary scene across our neighborhoods. Here are 76 essential restaurants to start with. During the day, you can visit these local galleries, historic sites, markets, museums, and public gardens. When the sun sets, go dancing, listen to live jazz, and visit Philly’s best bars and clubs.

🚙 Explore ‘The Great American Getaway’

Our city is pretty great, but there’s plenty to see in the rest of Pennsylvania as well. We have a list of day trips to take in the state, including wineries to visit. If you’re an outdoorsy person, there are some excellent hiking spots just outside the city. Maybe swap a hotel for a cabin for your stay. And if you want to explore the other side of the Keystone State, check out what our friends in Pittsburgh recommend.

🚆 Take a Quick Trip Along the East Coast

Maybe you want to cross state lines altogether. If you head north, you can visit New York City. If you head south, you can visit our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. If you want to just catch some waves this summer, here’s our guide to the Jersey Shore. All are accessible by train, bus, and car. If you’re traveling further out, here are some tips to navigating PHL Airport.

While our 13 City Cast cities (Austin, Boise, Chicago, D.C., Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Madison, Nashville, Philly, Pittsburgh, Portland, and Salt Lake) duked it out in our most recent podcast episode, debating which of our cities is the best for a long weekend trip, we wanted to give you the chance to find the summer city that best suits your vibe, too.

Would you rather eat at a kitschy Mexican restaurant with a 30-foot waterfall and cliff divers, or explore a pickle-themed festival spread across two scenic bridges? Embark on a naked bike ride (which doubles as a protest) or kayak down a historic river? The choice is (literally) yours!

What To Do

Sunday, July 6

🌭 An estimated 150 million hot dogs will be eaten on the Fourth of July, according to the esteemed National Hot Dog and Sausage Council. That amount of weiners would stretch lengthwise across the country (from DC to LA) at least five times! If you have a hankering for hot dogs, Philly has a thriving hot dog scene (and an even deeper hot dog history).

Anyway, have a great Fourth of July and enjoy those fireworks! 😎
