⏲️ SEPTA Crisis Reaches 11th Hour

🚍 Should ‘Skill Games’ in Poor Neighborhoods Fund SEPTA?
Community leaders are voicing concern over using revenue from unregulated “skill games” to fund SEPTA and other mass transit. While some lawmakers favor using this revenue, opponents say the machines are linked to increased crime and could have negative impacts on low-income neighborhoods. [The Inquirer 🔒]
💰 $200K in Overtime for One City Employee
City employees are earning massive overtime pay due to understaffing — at least nine employees tripled their salaries last year. The city spent over $330 million on overtime in 2024, and police department overtime reached $150 million. Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said reform is needed to alleviate the dependence on overtime and address staffing shortages. [WHYY]
