🗳️ Black Doctors’ Consortium Founder Runs for Congress

Ala Stanford, a pediatric surgeon who rose to prominence due to her work treating and testing Philadelphians during the COVID-19 pandemic, is joining the crowded congressional race with the support of retiring Rep. 🍽️ Cantina La Martina Closes After 4 Years

The Mexican restaurant run by James Beard-winning chef Dionicio Jimenez is closing Nov. 2 after four years in Kensington. Jimenez previously spoke out about being dropped by food suppliers and their insurance carrier due to safety issues in their neighborhood. The owners plan to find a new location. 🛠️ West Philly Tool Library Forced To Relocate

Local restaurants aren’t the only ones closing their doors. The West Philly Tool Library announced that its lease was not renewed after 15 years, forcing the workshop space to find a new home. The library not only provides tools to borrow at an affordable price, but teaches classes in skills such as sewing, home electric, and woodwork. Classes will pick up again in 2026.
