🛐 New generation embraces Philly’s Quaker roots
November 3, 2025 · — Siani Colón
Happy November, Philly! If you haven’t figured out what to grab for lunch yet, why not a hoagie or a cheesesteak for National Sandwich Day? Our executive producer Matt loves the bronco cutlet from Farina Di Vita in Queen Village. If you’re in Delco, host Trenae recommends visiting Phat Deli Market in Yeadon. Get the turkey-and-cheese hoagie with mayo, pepper, and oregano.
For a cheesesteak, I really like the Korean BBQ cheesesteak from Lee’s Deli in West Philly. If you want more recommendations, check out our past roundups on the best hoagies and cheesesteaks in the city.

Philadelphia Gas Works said for the time being it will not shut off service to customers who directed their LIHEAP grant to PGW or to those enrolled in its Customer Responsibility Program for low-income residents. 🏠 Is Delaware’s Increase in Homelessness Philly’s Fault?
Wilmington Mayor John Carney seems to think so. Carney blames the Parker administration’s efforts to address homelessness and addiction in Kensington for the rise in the homeless population in Wilmington. He also cited the program that gives one-way bus tickets to send unhoused people out of Philly, although few have gone to Wilmington. [WHYY, 🎧 City Cast Philly]
