🚕 Waymo Commits to Philly

The self-driving rideshare company announced it is officially expanding to Philadelphia after conducting tests — with human drivers. Waymo reps said they’re confident the technology could handle the city’s road conditions, though they’ll need approval from PennDOT before launching the service. [Axios Philly]

🪧 Stephen Starr Accused of Union Busting

The National Labor Relations Board is moving forward with charges against Stephen Starr and his restaurant group for allegedly interfering with union efforts at one of his D.C. restaurants. Union negotiations at the St. Anselm steakhouse have been contentious for nearly a year, during which Starr purportedly interrogated and threatened workers. A hearing is set for February 2026. 🔔 Local Artists to Commemorate Nation’s Birthday

Philly artists are creating 52 sculptures to celebrate the United States turning 250 next year, each with its own celebration every week in 2026. The 5-foot-tall pieces highlight local “firsts,” like the nation’s first circus at Sixth and Market Streets and its first children’s hospital, CHOP. [WHYY]

😤 Parker and Council Split Over Housing

City Council pushed back on Mayor Parker’s H.O.M.E. initiative with an amendment that adds funding aimed at low-income residents. It’s a rare disagreement between council members and Parker, who said the amendment could delay the spending of $400 million on new and repaired housing. [🎧 City Cast Philly]
