📜 Now Trump wants to change texts at the Liberty Bell
February 6, 2026 · — Siani Colón
This Super Bowl weekend feels terribly different compared to last year, doesn’t it? While I have one reason why I’ll be watching this weekend (🐰), others may still be interested in seeing who gets the Lombardi trophy on Sunday. If you’re not sure who to root for or bet on, the Philadelphia Zoo’s Brahma chicken, Chick Pea, will determine the pecking order today.
41-33. That’s all I have to say about one of Sunday’s competitors. IYKYK.

What's CITY Talking About
(Do Not) Let It Snow
It’s been nearly two weeks since the major snowfall and we’re somehow still cleaning up the mess. Bitter cold temps may be partially to blame, but many residents are pointing fingers at the city for a slow response that has led to frozen roads (and in one viral case, a fully ice-encased car). We’re not completely out of the woods yet, as we’re looking at potential snow squalls this weekend. [🎧 City Cast Philly]

Decades-Old Zoning Law Could Halt Plans for New Fishtown Restaurant
An overlay originally meant to restrict unruly nightclubs near the Delaware River has left owners of a new Fishtown burger joint in zoning purgatory (and down $40,000) as they await a hearing. Though Councilmember Mark Squilla is willing to update the overlay based on feedback from groups in Fishtown and Northern Liberties, some residents say the restrictions give them sway over the neighborhood’s booming restaurant scene. President’s House Interpretive Panels Thrown Into ‘Uncle Sam’s Garage’
Philadelphia attorney and Avenging the Ancestor Coalition organizer Michael Coard saw the secret hiding spot for the panels mentioning slavery and called their removal “desecration”. Up next is a legal battle against the Trump Administration for ripping the panels off the walls of the President’s House, but in the meantime, internal documents show that the government has also ordered the removal of materials at the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Adopt, Don’t Shop
City Council is considering a moratorium on puppy breeding due to crowded conditions at local animal shelters. Sarah Barnett, executive director of ACCT Philly, testified this week that unlicensed breeders do not always follow professional standards, putting the health and safety of the dogs at risk. [KYW]
