Hey, Philly! Before we dig into today’s news, I want to shine a light on one of the people who make City Cast Philly possible. Our very own host, Trenae Nuri, was recently featured in Temple University’s alumni site. If you’ve ever wondered how she landed on this career path and in this role, here’s a peek into that experience.
And as always, listen to Trenae on the Friday News Roundup below!

What's CITY Talking About
Slavery Exhibit Returns to Old City Following Deadline
Workers began reinstalling the original interpretative panels at the President’s House on Independence Mall following a court order to restore the slavery exhibit by 5 p.m. today. Mayor Parker even showed up to shake the hands of the park workers doing the reinstallation. The Trump administration has appealed as it seeks to scrub references to enslaved people held there by President George Washington. [🎧 City Cast Philly]

R.I.P. Isaiah Zagar
Even if you’ve never seen Zagar himself, you’ve definitely seen his work scattered across South Philly’s walls. His most iconic projects include South Street’s Magic Gardens and the former Painted Bride mural. His art and activism also helped to protect South Street from being replaced with a highway. Zagar died of congestive heart failure and Parkinson’s disease. [Philly Voice]
Lies and DUIs at the Center of Two Philly Police Scandals
Two DUIs are connected to a members-only bar for police. In one case, an officer didn’t have to take a blood-alcohol test for nearly six hours after crashing into a home. And in a separate instance of alleged police misconduct, 47 drug and gun convictions were thrown out this week, just some of the more than 1,000 cases that could be vacated after three narcotics officers were found to have given false statements multiple times. Thank You for Being a Roomie
A proposed “Golden Girls” bill aims to increase housing options for Pennsylvanians by lifting caps on the number of unrelated people living together. If signed into law, it would prevent zoning and housing codes from blocking students, friends, or older adults from sharing a place that they can afford. [🔒 Chestnut Hill Local]
