Citizens Police Oversight Commission’s Limited Authority
The Fraternal Order of Police has held up the watchdog group’s efforts to investigate cases of police misconduct. Although the commission is meant to operate independently, the police union can reject external investigations. [🎧 City Cast Philly]
Safe Healthy Homes Act Goes Back to Square One
Two landlords sued the city for alleged violations of the Sunshine Act, claiming that council members decided on the renter protections behind closed doors prior to the public hearing. Under a settlement agreement, City Council did not make a final vote on the legislation. Instead, the bills were sent back to committee, restarting the legislative process. [WHYY]

PennDOT to Close Roads Near 30th Street Station
Lanes will be closed around 30th and Market Streets from March 25 to June 1 as structural repairs are made near the Market Street bridges. Traffic will also be limited at the west entrance of the train station. [Philly Voice]
FIFA Fanfare Coming to Fairmount Park for 39 Days
The festival at Lemon Hill will feature screenings of each World Cup match, a family fun zone, concerts, and a vendor village. Philadelphia will be the only host city to have celebrations every day of the global tournament, even on non-game days. [🔒 Philadelphia Business Journal]
