🌳 Uprooting Philly’s tree issues
April 8, 2026 · — Siani Colón
Hi, Philly! Every other week, you’re seeing the city through our eyes (just look at today’s “Where Is It?” down below). Now it’s your turn. TILT is collecting submissions for Philly Photo Day. The week-long event and exhibition calls on residents and visitors to capture images of Philly that respond to the theme “How do we stay free?” 📸

What's CITY Talking About
Will These Bills Fail in Harrisburg?
Pennsylvania lawmakers are torn on proposed legislation to establish a paid family leave program, with some arguing it would be costly to small businesses. Paid leave is just one of the high-profile issues the PA House supported in a recent sweep of approved legislation. But as these bills await Senate approval, do they even stand a chance? City Leaders Must (Still) Resign To Run
City Council approved a bill to remove the ballot measure asking voters to decide whether city officials can remain in their positions while campaigning for a new role. Councilmember Isaiah Thomas moved to repeal his proposal despite support from Council, feeling that voters would not be on board. [WHYY]

World Stage Shut Down Due to Liquor License Violation
The University City venue, previously known as World Cafe Live, was raided on Saturday for serving alcohol with a liquor license that expired last year. World Stage plans to continue operating as a BYOB. A bartender who was arrested in the raid said this is “another stain on our reputation.” [🔒 The Inquirer, 🎧 City Cast Philly]
It’s Too Expensive To Care for Philly’s Trees
The city’s forester says it’ll cost an estimated $8 million to prune or remove the backlog of 30,000 trees in need of care. As demand grows, it’s likely they’ll never catch up. [KYW]
Uncle Bobbie’s To Move This Fall
