What Do Philadelphians Sound Like?

Show Notes

There’s no debate that Philadelphians have an accent. Even within the city, the words and phrases you hear can sound different from neighborhood to neighborhood. We’re revisiting a conversation from earlier this year between host Trenae Nuri and comedian and writer Alan Massenburg, who grew up in West Philly, about these regional differences and what turns of phrase let you know someone is really from Philly.

Check out Alan’s comedy album, We Got Action.

There are actually a lot of out-of-town businesses coming to Philly, especially when it comes to food. Why are they attracted to Philly? Host Trenae Nuri is talking with creative producers Abby Fritz and Siani Colón about some of their favorite out-of-town spots and if they conflict with Philly's culinary culture.
